The Board of Trustees of the Mzuri Wildlife Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of the 16th annual Steven E. Nelson Sportsman of the Year Award, Arnold W. Goldschlager M.D. of Hillsborough, CA. The Steven E. Nelson award, named after a former president of the Mzuri Wildlife Foundation, is regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in shooting sports. It is awarded to sportsmen who not only have distinguished themselves in the field but also have dedicated themselves to the cause of conservation and restoration of habitat and wildlife. Dr. Goldschlager will be presented the Steven E. Nelson Sportsman of the Year Award at a black tie gala dinner on June 9, 2012 in the Gold Ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel, atop Nob Hill in San Francisco.
Dr. Goldschlager received his undergraduate degree at Union College in New York and his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He performed his residency at Columbia University — Bellevue Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital and his Fellowships in Cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital and the University of California, San Francisco. He served in the United States Air Force in the Department of Medicine and as Chief of Medicine at Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan. He has practiced medicine in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past four decades and continues to maintain an active practice to this day.
